MAP supports UK exporters’ expansion in the USA and Canada

MAP connects over 260 UK companies with lead representatives of the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) to explore new export opportunities in the United States and Canada.

DBT’s responsibilities include: supporting and promoting British businesses to grow and export; opening up new markets for businesses by removing barriers; and, promoting free trade, economic security and resilient supply chains.

The Department has nine offices in the USA (Washington, Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York and San Francisco) and five in Canada (Calgary, Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver).

The USA and Canada rank among the top export markets for UK companies.

The US is the UK’s largest export market for goods and services and the world’s largest economy. It offers substantial potential for UK exporters. Total UK exports to the USA for the four quarters to end Q3 2023 totalled £193.1 billion.

Canada is the UK’s 12th largest export market. Total UK exports to Canada for the four quarters to end Q3 2023 totalled £16.4 billion.

MAP’s works closely with the Department for Business and Trade comes, including via its role advising Made in Britain on international trade and supply chains. Made in Britain is a trade association with a growing membership, now of more than 1,900 UK manufacturing companies.

MAP strengthens the resilience, sustainability and growth of the entities it works for.  MAP does this through International Trade and Supply Chain solutions that advise, inform and connect: buyers, suppliers, investors and stakeholders.  MAP is increasingly focused on, and aligned with, the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals.
