MAP has supported 80 UK companies to explore expansion of their exports to the US and Canada. This includes the facilitation of connections with the Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade (BIST) and a network of service providers and partners across the continent.
The US is the UK’s largest export market for goods and services and the world’s largest economy. With low regulatory barriers, minimal language barriers and access to the global supply chain, it offers huge potential for UK exporters.
In 2025, UK sales to the US were worth £200.8 billion, accounting for 22.8% of the UK’s total exports.
Canada is the UK’s 12th largest export market, with exports in 2025 worth £17.6 billion.
US tariff changes announced last year have impacted the ways in which UK manufacturers export to the US. However, the UK-US Economic Prosperity Deal (EPD), signed in May 2025, has opened up opportunities, particularly in pharmaceutical and automotive sectors.
BIST helps ensure that UK exporters understand which markets they will likely have most success in and how to access these.
MAP works closely with a range of partners and stakeholders around the world, including via its role advising Made in Britain on international trade and supply chains. Made in Britain is a trade association with a growing membership, now of 2,250 UK manufacturing companies.
