MAP supports UK exporters in Europe

MAP collaborates with the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) in Europe and UK exporters. Work during April and May 2024 includes discussions with His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for Europe, Chris Barton CMG, and making direct connections for circa 30 UK companies to explore new export opportunities and overcome market access barriers.

DBT’s responsibilities include: supporting and promoting British businesses to grow and export; opening up new markets for businesses by removing barriers; and, promoting free trade, economic security and resilient supply chains.

The Department has a team of over 300 staff in 34 European countries, including leading export markets for the UK, such as Germany, Netherlands, France, Spain, Portugal, Norway and Poland.

In 2022, the UK exported £340 billion of goods and services to the EU (42% of total UK exports). The UK imported £432 billion from the EU (48% of total UK imports). The UK had a trade deficit of £92 billion with the EU compared to a £5 billion surplus with non-EU countries.

MAP’s works closely with the Department for Business and Trade, including via its role advising Made in Britain on international trade and supply chains.  Made in Britain is a trade association with a growing membership, now of more than 2,000 UK manufacturing companies.

MAP strengthens the resilience, sustainability and growth of the entities it works for.  MAP does this through International Trade and Supply Chain solutions that advise, inform and connect: buyers, suppliers, investors and stakeholders.  MAP is increasingly focused on, and aligned with, the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals.
